Dartfield Horse Museum and Park

D esigned by Pat Monaghan and built by Tony McManmon who have designed and built Event courses  for the most notable international and national Event Championships throughout Ireland. They have also created schooling grounds for many leading Irish riders. Most notably, they have created the Dartfield Cross Country  Course for the 'celebrated'  Willie Leahy, which may be the highlight of your stay with us. This superb course boasts the potential for the finest water jump in Ireland.

They have built the Aille Cross Event courses to emphasise progressive jumping and confidence building for the rider, enabling our guides the opportunity to increase your confidence and ability in controlled conditions.

IRISH  HORSES

Y our ride all depends on the horse you ride. This is where our experience is of importance in matching horse and rider.

The horses are experienced Hunters, Sport horses selected from the same progney as the best Event horses in the world and Connemaras renowned for their temperament and ability. The Ride operates every week from October through to the middle of April. However you may have to help on the farm with regular Horse Drives, Cattle Drives, and Sheep Drives  a necessity for farming in this area.

RELAXING  RIDES

The ride's varied terraine includes the Slieve Aughty mountains, large tracts of woodlands, rolling hills and green fields set off by a lattice  work of stone walls, and small country roads or boreens.  The trail will take you through regions  rich in folklore, legend and archaeological treasures. You will have a chance to experience first-hand  the Ireland of poetry and song, as you travel on horsebackacross  the miles and stop, from time to time, for rest and refreshement at a local pub or farmhouse.
